The 25-26 basketball cheer season has officially ended. The girls spent countless hours improving every aspect of their performances. All the girls are going to miss the team as the older girls are going to be moving up to Junior Varsity and Varsity.
The girls’ last two games were canceled. This was due to the extreme weather conditions on the game days. The team was extremely disappointed to learn that their season together was officially over. The last game was supposed to still happen even though the district had a FID day, but the weather was too harsh.
“I wish the last two games weren’t cancelled. I was kind of upset about the last two games being cancelled, because it was going to be my last two games.” Presley Malsch (8) stated.
The girls all really enjoyed cheering this year, and most plan on trying out again in March.
Cheer tryouts this year will be held on March 13. The girls will have tryout practices on March 11 and 12. Many girls plan on trying out next year. Many of the girls are looking forward to the upcoming season. The girls deeply miss their sport and can’t wait to jump back into it.
“I am excited for the upcoming season, especially the games and the fact that we get to leave school early. My favorite part of this season was the dinners,” Mikaylee Kuntz (7), said.
The coaches also really enjoyed their first season coaching. The coaches were extremely sad for the first season to be over. All the girls loved the coaches this year, and also became very close with them as well. Many of the 8th graders are extremely sad to leave the coaches when they move up to the Varsity team.
“I enjoyed having Leia and Grace as coaches, they understood us. I definitely became closer with them this year, because I feel like since they were closer in age with us they understood that cheer can be hard, and they made me feel like I was always heard. I am sad to leave them, because they always made cheer fun even when we had to work really hard on something.” Jerah Shiring (8), stated.
The girls all became extremely close this season and now have so many memories to look back on. The girls spent hours on end together from practices, to games, to football season bus rides. The girls spent multiple times a week from August to now working together. The girls now have valuable friendships that they have all learned so much from.
“I gained so many friendships from cheer and I loved it. I definitely enjoyed the season, I plan on trying out again next season with goals to become louder and be better,” Juliana Uhler (7) stated.
