Kennywood is the helpful school partner that makes the school year even more entertaining! They host annual school picnics, music festivals, and more!
Have you ever gone to Kennywood? It is an amusement park that consists of Jack Rabbit, Noah’s Ark, Thunderbolt, Exterminator, Sky Rocket, Steel Curtain, and the most famous, Phantom’s Revenge, and even more! There will be a school picnic there on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
For years, Pittsburgh schools and nearby city schools have relied on Kennywood as the fun, entertaining, and safe place to celebrate the school year ending in June.
“I have been to Kennywood a lot of times, especially when my kids were little. I like to go for the rides and to enjoy the food in the summertime. In the fall, I have been to Fright Nights, and during the holiday season, I have been there to enjoy the Christmas lights,” Ms. Strati, 6th grade ELA and social studies teacher, said.
“I like the old wooden roller coasters like the Jackrabbit, Racers, and Thunderbolt. I also love the Whip the Swingshot,” Ms. Strati said.
“You have to have the Potato Patch fries for sure when you go to Kennywood. They are my favorite, especially with vinegar and ketchup!” Ms. Strati said.
You can get tickets for $35.99, and if it is rainy on the day you go, you can get a free ticket and go on another sunny day.
“Probably the Steel Curtain [favorite ride],” Lucas Turner (6) said.
“Potato patch fries because they’re good[favorite food at Kennywood],” Lucas Turner (6) said.
Potato Patch is a fan favorite and even a staple of Kennywood itself. The fries consist of fresh-cut Idaho potatoes, melted cheese, bacon, brown gravy, and vinegar. You should go to Kennywood this summer!
