The middle school volleyball team has had an exhilarating season so far. The seventh and eighth grade teams have won many games. Sadly, one of the 8th grade players, Emme Borrelli (8), who plays middle hitter on the court, injured her spleen. Both teams were devastated when she announced she couldn’t play for the rest of the season.
“What I miss the most about this volleyball season is being able to play with the girls and connecting with them in a team sense. Being on the sidelines, cheering for them, and being encouraging is super fun, but I won’t get to connect with them in a way like when we played together, and we trusted each other,” Emme Borrelli, volleyball player, said. “I will continue to play volleyball throughout high school. I’m just glad I ended up getting this injury now rather than getting injured in high school.”
“We kind of lost a little bit of motivation since Emme was one of our best players. We had to change Gemma and Zofia’s position,” Lilly Rachuba (7), volleyball player, said. “It puts a lot of pressure on the team, especially when we don’t have a lot of subs. It’s difficult to play because if you lose a point, you feel really judged.”
Mckenna Kalinoski (8) was out for two of the eighth grade’s most recent games. Since she also plays the middle position, the rotation on the court was messed up. Each player had to change their position. Tia Kaufman (8), the eighth grade libero, had to play front row, which was a challenge.
