This year, the track team gained many new members. These new members span from long distance runners to pole vaulters. The first track meet was at Carlynton on March 31. They faced off against Carlynton, Sto-Rox, and Eden Christian. At the meet, the middle school boys 4 x 100 team won, and Lucas Miller (7) placed 2nd in shot put.
“The most memorable moment of the meet for me was the end of the 4 x 100 when we won it. I would say my favorite part of track would be running and the snacks. I do the 100 meter, 200 meter, 4 x 100, long jump, triple jump, and once the 800 meter,” Nik Huber (8) said.
The following meet was a home meet, but was canceled due to the weather. The meet after that was at New Brighton on April 15. This meet was the first time that the team ran hurdles.
“My favorite part of hurdles is the challenge and getting over new challenges. I would say the most memorable moment of this year would be hanging out with my teammates and building relationships. I do the 100 meter, 100 meter hurdles, long jump, and the 4 x 100,” Lillian Mehaffie (7) said.
The meet after that they had was the meet at Ambridge on April 16. At this meet, they faced off against Ambidge, Quaker Valley, and Southside. The boys’ 4 x 100 got 2nd place while the girls got 4th place. On April 23, the team had their first home meet against Moon. While the season isn’t over, the runners on the track have had an amazing season so far. With more meets to run, there are more wins to take.
