The middle school football and cheerleading season is coming to an end this year. The football team won a total of eight games. They played against football teams such as Southside, Beaver Falls, and more. Their highest-scoring game from the season was — The cheerleaders have gone to every game to support the team. During the season, there was intense training skills and a lot of time put in by the team. The cheerleaders were led this season by their two captains, Farah Donaldson and Temperance Max.
The football team is made up of the seventh and eighth graders of the middle school. The starting quarterback for this year was Kameron Brown. Kameron Brown is a seventh-grade student here at Freedom Middle School. The backup quarterback for the year was Wyatt Donawitz who is also a seventh-grade student. The football team had a good year and made many touchdowns and plays. Some of the plays they threw on the field made them win the game. They showed how the cheerleaders also did great and gave off their school spirit to cheer on the football team.
“I don’t think the season went that well. We only won one game the whole season. I feel like the cheerleaders did well, but it was kind of hard to cheer since we didn’t play that well,” Farah Donaldson, cheerleader, said.
“Overall the cheerleaders did amazing and were so hardworking. For fundraisers, we did bake sales, sold bracelets, and face tattoos. The cheerleaders had a great season,” Mrs. Barone, cheer coach, said.
Overall, the football season was a good year with some wins and losses. The cheerleaders stood proudly and cheered for the team. There were both ups and downs with wins and losses. The cheerleaders had a great season as well. They cheered at many games and events. They had theme nights to increase students’ participation. They also have done a fundraiser for cancer by selling bracelets. They also cheered in the Homecoming parade this year. Throughout the season they also have to attend intense practices after school to be able to cheer at a high-intensity level. They also took time out of their day to learn all the moves and chants as well.
In total, the football team and cheerleaders had a great year. They are now starting to prepare and train for next year and the seasons to come throughout the years.
