It’s the moment we had all been waiting for. Freedom holds its first volleyball tournament! Run by Mr. Dante Denome, 8th grade history teacher, and Mr. Mathew Brandt, 7th grade science teacher, the tournament officially started on April 17 for the 7th-8th graders.
“This is so kids have an opportunity to have fun, exercise, and participate in teamwork as they get ready for the PSSA’s,” said Mr. Denome.
“[I like that we] get to play volleyball during 5th period, which we never get to do anything during 5th period,” said Brennen Vucinic, 8th grader and player on the 6o overalls team.
For the competition, there were six teams and each team had to pay a fee of $5 to get into the tournament. The Teams were 60 Overalls, The Bulldogs, The Goats, Kittens, Heinz Pickles, and Costco Elite. According to Mr. Denome, the fee will go towards a grand prize for the winning team. The winning prize will most likely be shirts or a banner to put in the gym.
“[I’m looking forward to] the kids having a wonderful time and of course the competition,” said Mr. Denome before the competition.
