On Sunday, Jan. 25, Pittsburgh didn’t just have a snowy day, it had a historic one. For the first time in nearly 16 years, we saw a double digit snowfall in a single calendar day. We had 16 to 20 inches of snow in parts of the Pittsburgh area!
“I felt happy but also thought about the roads being dangerous,” Kori Scobie (6) said.
A lot of freedom families stocked up on snacks and movies so they didn’t have to worry about driving in the bad road conditions.
“ I felt happy to think we won’t have school for the next few days!”Kori Scodie (6) proudly said. The highlight of having so much snow is that you can go sledding, drink hot chocolate, and in most cases, you can have a snow day or online classes.
“I’m not happy about having this much snow because I hate snow!” Addison Hillard (5) said.
“I went sledding and built an igloo.” Addison Hillard (5) also said.
With Pennsylvania’s Governor, Josh Shapiro, proclaiming a disaster emergency as forecasters warned of heavy snow, sleet, and dangerous travel conditions. There were 25 deadly car crashes in Pittsburgh. As of February 6, 171 deaths had been confirmed due to the storm. The snow started to fall in central Arkansas in the early hours of Jan. 24.
