Galentine’s Day is an unofficial holiday dedicated to celebrating platonic friendship and female companionship. Although a lot of people don’t know this, Galentine’s Day is actually celebrated on February 13 and not the 14th.
“I actually did not know Galentine’s Day was celebrated on the 13th and not the 14th,” Camryn Dismuke (7) said. Galentine’s Day was created by the TV show Parks and Recreation, in season 2 episode 16, on Feb. 11, 2010, conceived by the character Leslie Knope.
“My favorite thing I did to celebrate was hanging out with my friends and playing blind karaoke,” Gianna Castronovo (7) said. On Galentine’s Day, a lot of people celebrate by doing activities like crafts, game night, painting, etc.
“My favorite thing that I did to celebrate Galentine’s Day was doing a gift swap with my friends at a Galentine’s Day sleepover because I got so many great gifts,” Sara Houy (6) said.
“My favorite thing I did to celebrate Galentine’s Day was hanging out with my closest friends and doing fun crafts,” Camryn Dismuke (7) said.
“I liked the crafts, and when we made sunglasses, and I also liked when me and my friends made dirty sodas,” Madison Bair (8) said.
Some things you can do to celebrate Galentine’s Day with your friends are DIY spa nights, going out to dinner, movie marathons, baking, gift exchanges, and dance parties. Something you could do for spa nights could be setting up stations for face masks, manicures, pedicures, and DIY body scrubs. A way you could have fun with a game night could be playing games such as Never Have I Ever, board games, karaoke, and online games. Some cute gift exchange gift ideas are making everyone little baskets, self-care packages, or mugs filled with goodies! Celebrate with your friends on Galentine’s Day to show them how much you care!
