Sixth Grade went on a field trip to the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Friday, December 12, 2025. They went to see a play called “A Christmas Carol.” Ms. Shanda Wyatt, sixth grade learning support teacher, set up this field trip.
“We were researching and exploring new field trip ideas, but we wanted to select something that supported our English language arts program. The Musical Christmas Carol was an option, and decided on it because of the live performance and the storyline,” Ms. Wyatt stated.
This was the first time 6th grade has gone on a field trip to the Byham Theater.
After they returned from the field trip, they enjoyed hot cocoa and popcorn while working or watching a movie.
“A Christmas Carol” is about grouchy Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas and people. He is transformed by three ghosts who show him the past, present, and future, which makes him see his selfish ways. He realizes how mean he is and decides to change.
“ My favorite part about the play was how the kids who were in the play were in character and stayed in character,” Myles Minzenberg (6) said. Minzenberg also stated that he did not like how mean Scrooge was in the play
