This year, Ms. Jennifer Newman’s 5 and 6 grade kids have been working since the second month of the year on something special. They sang in the concert with the 7 and 8th grade kids. They sang, “Where Are You Christmas”, “Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah”, “Where Are The Children”, and “Dans Le Bois”.
Many chorus students said they really enjoyed the process of preparing for the concert, the songs, and overall said it was a great experience. Their reasons for joining chorus were because they enjoyed singing, and they thought it’d be fun to try something new and different.
“Yes [I will join chorus again next year], because it was just a fun experience singing with your friends and getting candy,” Hannah VanDeCar (5), said.
Ms. Newman said she chose the songs she chose because they had a lot of different tones that had to be learned, and because she wanted a variety of songs. Ms. Newman said she’s been quite proud of the 5th grade class, even if the class was large, and hard to manage at first. She is proud of how far they’ve come and how they are doing so far.
From the kids that were interviewed, their favorite song that they sang was “Hannukkah oh Hannukah”. Overall, it seems that the kids really enjoyed the concert, and the process of getting ready for the concert, and Ms. Newman enjoyed teaching them the songs, and watching them learn.
