This year, we have hall monitors within the middle school. The school has included Ms. McFarland and Ms. Campbell on staff as middle school hall monitors. The job description is technically not a “hall monitor” but an ISS (in school suspension) supervisor. If not in the halls, you’ll find either Ms. McFarland or Ms. Campbell on ISS duty. Usually, there is one on ISS duty and one on hall/bathroom duty.
“The hardest part of the job is all the walking. I haven’t had to deal with anything too bad, yet, but lunch time is the worst, or playing around in the bathroom,” Ms. Campbell, our newest hall monitor, said.
“We added hall monitors, Ms. McFarland and Ms. Campbell, to make sure students aren’t messing around in the hallways when they should be in class. They also help monitor ISS. Having two additional staff members helps keep things safe and make sure students are doing what they are supposed to be doing,” Mr. Jeff Griffith, Freedom Middle School Principal, said.
“This was Dr. Whitworth’s and my decision. The teachers also supported this decision and have appreciated having them hall monitors this year. I have been thinking about it for a while. The high school has hall monitors, and I saw how much they had benefited the school when I worked there,” Mr. Griffith also stated.
In conclusion, the hall monitors seem to have already made an impact on our school, and they should be greatly appreciated.
