You might have a Christmas tree in your house. It is that time of year. Have you ever wondered why there is a star or an angel on a Christmas tree?
According to WKRN News, the star on a Christmas tree is the star of Bethlehem from where Jesus was born. The star is a symbol of the birth of Christ. It is also considered unique with only five points and referenced to the Gospel.
On the other hand, the angel on top of a Christmas tree is the angel that came down from heaven. The angel’s name was Gabriel.
The reason these are all on top of a tree is because, usually there is a manger scene underneath the tree. Originally they put baby Jesus on top of the tree.
So, what’s on your tree?
Another December holiday is Hanukkah. Hanukkah also has a star. It is the Star of David. The Star of David is a Jewish symbol. It is a magical sign or decoration. This star appears on Jewish tombstones. It is also on the flag of Israel.
