Esports is a competition with video games. Esports is an event that has been rapidly gaining popularity over the past few years. Many schools have adopted Esports and started to play against other schools. While this could be expensive, it can give scholarships, improve mental health, and help with teamwork skills. 

With this in mind, Mr. Jeff Griffith, middle school principal, has been trying to create an esports team for our school. However, there have been many logistical problems, including a lack of sponsors, finding interest, and scheduling. 

“I want to make an esports team to get more students to do after-school activities,” Mr. Griffith, school principal, said.

A possible game that interested students could enter is the Beaver Valley Middle School Esports Tournament. This is an invitational event for different schools in Beaver County. The event is on Thursday, May 15. The game to played is Super Smash Bros, a game on the Nintendo Switch. Interested students should listen to the announcements for more information.
