Hunting season is starting up. October is the beginning of a lot of animals that are going to come in season. Some top ones are the cottontail rabbits. The season starts with a junior hunt from October 4-18 and a statewide regular season from October 18-November 28. A second season runs from December 15-24 and then from December 26-February 28. Another one is black bears, which archery starts October 18-25. Black bear season finally ends with specific firearms from November 22 – November 25. Deer season is right around the corner! Deer archery spans from September 20 to November 15 (with some exceptions) and the regular firearms season from November 29 to December 14.
There are some new rules introduced this year. You are now allowed to hunt on some Sundays, the dates are September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. On these Sundays, any game in season can be hunted except for migratory game birds. They have also increased the penalties for trespass hunting in Pennsylvania. They increased the fines and introduced a mandatory forfeiture of hunting privileges, with stricter punishments for repeat offenders or those who defy an order to leave private property.
