The Junior High Freedom Bulldogs football team, led by Coach Matt Brown, has begun their season and, as of Tuesday, Sep. 26, are currently 1-3. They recently had a big win against South Side with a final score of 28-6. This month, I got the opportunity to interview a few of the players and get to hear about what they like about football.
Logan Tatko, backup tackle and nose guard, likes that football keeps him active after school. Caden Roche, fullback and safety, enjoys tackling other players in football and preventing the other team from scoring. Chase Furman, running back, enjoys running the ball and working it down the field to help his team score. Caden Roche and Chase Furman both share a favorite memory of defeating Riverside and making the playoffs last season before they joined the middle school team.
“[I like being a part of this team] because it’s fun,” Chase Furman said.
On Sept. 24, the team played a close game against Quaker Valley, but they were defeated 12-14. The Bulldogs still have one remaining home game on Oct. 1 against Rochester. They will end their season on the road, with two away games at Keystone Oaks and Cornell.
The Bulldogs have begun their season, and we wish them the best of luck on the rest of their games. Go Bulldogs!
