March Madness is a basketball tournament that happens between the best of the best college basketball teams. Every year there are 68 college basketball teams and they play each other throughout March.
For the first time, the school hosted a House Cup March Madness assembly located in the gym with all of the middle school. The assembly was held on Friday, March 14 during some of the eighth period and all of ninth period. During the assembly, the PAWS ambassadors helped set up different games and basketball tricks.
During the assembly, students played different basketball relays and games to teach students the importance and how fun basketball was. Students from all grades volunteered to play these awesome games. After each game, whichever house won earned house points towards their house. The Blue House earned 50 points, the Green House earned 0points, the Orange House earned 25 points and the Yellow House earned 25 points.
“My favorite part about the assembly was listening to the songs, and my favorite game was knockout,” Naomi Kaskalavich, fifth-grade student, said. “Next year I think we should do more games other than just basketball.”
“My favorite part of the assembly was the crowd, and I think we should do this assembly again next year. My favorite game was probably knockout,” Preston Deal, fifth-grader, said.
Overall, the students had a great time seeing some of their favorite teachers and friends play basketball. Also all of the teachers had a great time seeing their students engage and have fun playing team games of basketball.
