This year our principal, Mr. Jeff Griffith, held a press conference with the seventh-grade and eighth-grade Bulldog Barker staff. This was held on March 4, during second period. One of the positive things he had to say about the student body is that he has seen a lot of improvement in everyone’s behavior.
“This school year has been filled with growth, achievement, and positive change, and I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our collective efforts,” Mr. Jeff Griffith, FMS principal, said.
Freedom had 112 discipline referrals by February last year, but this school year, currently in February we have only had 46 discipline referrals. Discipline referrals are when a teacher writes up a student and turns in a form in the office, and then Mr. Griffith or Dr. Amanda Whitworth, dean of students, gives that student a consequence based on the student handbook. Consequences get worse depending on the behavior and if the student has previously had a write-up.
“I am proud to share that student behavior in our hallways and during lunch has significantly improved. The respect and responsibility our students are demonstrating each day show a commitment to creating a positive school culture. This progress is a direct result of the efforts of our dedicated teachers, our new dean of students, the support of our families, and most importantly
