On Friday, Jan. 31 the FMS parents held a winter formal for the seventh and eighth graders. There was a variety of sweet treats, drinks, and a lot of fun. Mr. John Mohrbacher and his daughter Renae Mohrbacher were in charge of the songs, and volunteers from the FMS parents were in charge of the food and decorations. They provided cupcakes, cookies, popcorn, water, and snowball punch.
The formal this year was held in the cafeteria, which gave a lot more room than in the gym, where it was held last year. The FMS parents decorated the tables, and there was a backdrop for the students to take pictures.
“Yes, it was good. I feel like since they moved it to the cafeteria we had more room and it wasn’t as hot as the gym,” Grace Friend, eighth grade student, said. Half of the cafeteria was reserved for dancing and the rest was for people to sit down and enjoy spending time with their friends. They had different activities like the chicken dance, limbo, and more fun things.
“If they had more drink options it would’ve been better,” Grace Friend, eighth grade student, said. The only drink options were water and the punch. A lot of students said that they wish there were maybe different types of pop and maybe some lemonade.
I liked it because it was bigger and more fun than the seasonal ones (fall, winter, spring). There were a lot more than 50 people that went to the formal and so many had a lot of fun. All the upcoming seventh and eighth graders are so excited for the next formal.
