Just as many years before, the seventh and eighth-grade boys have been split up into two different basketball teams. This year, as of Jan. 17, the seventh grade boy’s basketball team has lost all of their games, and the eighth grade boys have won all of their games.
“The seventh and eighth graders being on two different teams gives both teams a chance to develop more,” Mr. John Mohrbacher, seventh grade boys basketball coach, said. “I think both teams have made progress this season. The seventh graders haven’t won a game yet, but each game they get closer to winning. With the seventh grade team, I’ve just been trying to get them all to work on defense and that will generate offense. I’ve been coaching for over 20 years. I still love it and each team has its own challenge, so I find that fun.”
“I think the seventh grade team has improved since the beginning of the season. We’ve had a lot of closer games recently,” Samuel Coe, seventh grade student, said. “One thing I think we could do better is run our plays in the games, like we do in practice. We could also work on our defense more.”
“We’re scoring pretty well, and we’ve been shooting good free-throws and three-pointers, so I think we’ve made progress since the start of this season,” Chase Andrews, eighth-grade student, said. “Some things that our team could work on more are passing and layups.”
Although both teams’ records are very different, both teams have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the season, and have a lot more room to grow and get better.
