Veterans Day Parade, in Beaver Borough, took place on Monday, Nov. 11. It was a very full parade with lots of Scouts, Bands, and Veterans. The parade started at the bank and Cafe Kolache and ended about a mile down the road at the four way.
The main reason for the parade was to celebrate Veterans Day. What it means to people is important too. Every year, the Freedom Band participates. This year the band played the National Anthem while marching.
“For every Veterans Day, I can remember it was a day I could spend time with my dad. Even if he was stationed in a different place,” Klaire Evans, student, said.
It is a sad day for some people as well as a happy day for those with family members. Ava Bonzo, student, attended the parade for her brother and friends.
“Celebrating those who fight for our country,” Ava Bonzo, student, said when asked what Veterans Day meant.
Both students said it is to celebrate and remember those who have sacrificed their lives. The parade’s purpose is to honor.
“To those who have sacrificed their lives for us. To honor those who are serving now too,” Kaydence Stang, student, said. The parade is to honor those who have served, but are serving now too.
This year, the Freedom Marching Band participated in the National Anthem.
“I feel the parade was fun, but shorter than I thought it would be,” Klaire, student and participant in the parade, said. It was a very quick parade and was very cold. Lots of people observing the parade thought so too.
“ I thought it went well, but it was cold. You can tell everyone works hard,” Ava, student, said. Ava was observing from the sidewalk, since her brother marched with Pack 444 in the parade.
The overall turnout of the parade was short, but sweet. Lots of Veterans participated from the Vietnam War and more.
