Winter is the season of blankets of snow and heavy coats, but also sickness. Since our school holds many kids, sicknesses spread everywhere. The place they can spread the most is the halls. Nine times a day, kids are in a narrow space, and can easily touch other students.
The hallway is not the only place kids and teachers can get sick. Classrooms, the gym, and the cafeterias are all places kids are vulnerable. According to StudyFinds.org, 48% of students in the U.S. have gotten sick this school year.
When asked approximately how many students have been in the nurse’s office this year so far, Mrs. Wendy Kline, nurse of the elementary and middle school, stated, “I will give you the exact answer. 632 students in the first two weeks of this month.”
The most common illnesses students have been in the nurse’s office for are fevers, headaches and vomiting or throwing up. The most common season that children come in during is Winter. Last year, about 14.7 million students in the U.S. missed school for sickness. It is always great to be clean, even if it is sometimes hard.
