This years penny drive totals

This year’s penny drive was a lot different than last year. Instead of giving each class a jar, the Student Government did it for each house. The jars were in the office this year instead of the classrooms.

“Honestly, I thought we would make less money this year with the jars being in the office. If they change anything next year it is up to the Student Government staff,” said Mr. James Culler, Student Government sponsor.

This year the penny drive raised a total of $1,001 to help a Freedom student whose house was lost in a fire. The green house raised the most money and earned a movie day before Christmas break.

My name is Brooke Sarvey and I am a Features Editor for the newspaper. I’m in eighth grade and this is my fourth year in Bulldog Barker. I’m looking forward to Bulldog Barker this year because this is my last year doing it in middle school. Outside of school, I do softball and volleyball. Last year, I played volleyball and softball for the school, and I play softball for Pittsburgh Power. I live with my parents and my younger brother.
