Mrs. Lori Sacco, second grade teacher, has made a change to Fridays for Freedom. Students will be starting to wear red on Fridays. They will do this to show support for troops and military members. For Freedom, Wear Red Fridays started in a second grade classroom when Enzo D’Arrigo walked in. He was wearing a shirt that read, “I wear red for my daddy.” Mrs. Sacco thought this was quite interesting and decided to do some research.
RED stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. Three simple words that can mean a lot. This idea of wearing red shirts on Friday is a very simple idea and a perfectly easy way to show support. This January a letter was sent to Freedon Elementary parents asking if they would like to have their kids wear red every Friday. The parents loved the idea and the next Friday, second grade students were sent to school wearing red. For now, Fridays are still normal for the middle school, however, the simple idea has a possibility of spreading to the middle school as well.
