This season for the girls basketball team went very well. The girls have won one game, but have had good games against all the other teams, only losing by 2 or 4 points. This year the girls had to combine teams because they didn’t have enough people to make a separate seventh and eighth grade team. This affected some schools because they have both a seventh and eighth grade team, so they have to try to play all the people equally. As the season goes on the team improves more and more, and tries their best to win their games.
This year’s team has very athletic, and skilled players, so they work as a team and try their hardest, according to the coaches.
“I think we improve with each and every practice and it shows in the game results. The players are responding and carrying over their practice habits to games,” Coach John Kaercher, the girls basketball coach said.
Coach Kaercher has been coaching the girls basketball team off and on for twelve years. The last two were consecutive years while coaching the girls high school basketball team as well. Basketball is his favorite sport of all time and he has played it since the age of 8. He prefers to watch high school and college games to keep learning the game.
Every day the girls don’t have a game they are conditioning or practicing anything they need to work on.
“I think we need to practice our shooting, to be an amazing team,” Lily Tyler, seventh grader said.
