Do middle school students get to go to the gym during their lunch period? Yes, Mr. Jeffery Griffith, middle school principal, made the decision to let the middle school students go to the gym during their lunch period.
“When I was in middle school that’s what I did and students finish their lunch pretty fast. Letting them go to the gym will give them free time,” Mr. Griffith explained. Having the opportunity to go to the gym during your lunch period will let you spend time with your friends.
“It’s a good idea, but it can get crazy in there,” Abby Tedesco, middle school student, and Bulldog Barker staff, said. If you go to the gym during your lunch period, you can play volleyball, foursquare, basketball, play catch with a football, or you can walk around and spend time with your friends.
“For some of the students it will give them the opportunity to be with their friends, and for the people that stay inside the lunch room it will give them some quiet time to talk to their friends,” Mr. Craig Bohon, Spanish teacher, and lunch monitor, said.
There haven’t been many problems but Mr. Bohon has been trying to teach kids how to be respectful of their cafeteria and the people that work in the cafeteria. Also getting kids to the gym without disrupting the classes that are going on.
“The cafeteria has been getting loud, so kids that go to the gym will give the people in the cafeteria some quiet time,” Mr. Griffith stated.
“I get my workout in, and I like to be active so getting to go to the gym if I don’t have gym that day I get to be active everyday,” Sydney Vilscek, 7th grader said. That is how getting to go to the gym during your lunch period will let you spend time with your friends, and you can be active.
