Students pick their favorite candy, costumes

‘Tis the season to be scary and celebrate all of the scary ghouls and goblins.’ Some kids may think they are too old to dress up and trick-or-treat just because they are in middle school, but Halloween is for everyone. In fact, Halloween has been around for 2,000 years. Over time, Halloween has evolved into a day full of activities like trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, festive gatherings, dressing up in costumes and eating treats.

In a survey conducted by the Bulldog Barker to FMS students, there was a large variety of favorite candies and a bunch of different costumes but, the most popular candy by far was Sour Patch Kids with 28 votes out of 61 responses. Although Reese’s were in a close second with 25 votes out of 61 responses. There was a separate question that asked about what student’s least favorite candy was, it came up with 29 votes out of 61 responses for Almond Joys.

There were a lot of different costumes but the most common response was they “didn’t know”or “just weren’t going” trick-or-treating. They  may not be going because they think it is not “cool” or they could just be busy. Although there are a lot of older kids that go as well. The most often occurring costume was “skeletons” with 4 votes out of 61 responses. The other most popular costumes were Stranger Things and clowns with 3 votes out of 61 responses. This was a surprise but also a very classic costume occurring year after year.
