Girls and boys Freedom Middle School soccer has started off well. The first game for both the girls and boys teams was on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Avonworth.

The boys are 4 wins – 4 losses and are coached by Coach John Mohrbacher.

“I think our team is doing great. They have exceeded expectations,” Mohrbacher said. “If we were to improve on anything it would be to keep our shape and formation.”

The boys have one more game on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 6:30pm at Ambridge. They will play tonight on Sept. 30, at 3:30 pm, at Carlynton. Total they will play 14 games this season.

“It’s going good,” Timothy McKelvey, eighth grader, said. “[We need to work on] passing and taking out shots on target.”

The girls are 3 wins – 1 tie – 3 losses and are coached by Coach Chris Keller.

“I think we are really starting to play well as a team. We are improving every game as you can see in the score of our games,” Keller said.

“Being a little more aggressive and also communicating with each other more on the field,” Keller said that his team could improve.

My team is doing well this year because we are improving and learning as we go along,” Ashlyn Wagner, seventh grader, stated.

The girls also have one more game on Oct. 5, at 7:45pm, at Ambridge. They also play tonight Sept. 30, at Quaker Valley, at 3:45pm. Total they will have played 13 games this season.

Both of the teams are working really hard each game and are giving it their best.
