Without a doubt, there are many challenges during a global pandemic when supporting initiatives like breast cancer awareness. Despite all the challenges, organizations show their encouragement in various ways. Ann Taylor, Cuisinart, and Panera are three examples of organizations that step up to the challenge.
Breast cancer is a disease where cancer cells grow in the breast uncontrollably. There are many different types of breast cancer that are determined by which cells change into cancer. Ductal Carcinoma and Ductal Carcinoma in Situ are two types. The coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on people affected in multiple ways; those who may have breast cancer are less likely to get screenings and people with pre-existing conditions are at higher risk if they catch the virus. The following are three examples of companies that hope to raise awareness of these issues.
Ann Taylor, a well-known fashion company, is selling a limited edition silk scarf. Fifty percent of the purchase price from this limited edition scarf is sent to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Like Ann Taylor, Cuisinart is selling products – specifically pink kitchen appliances – to raise funds. The company donates a total of 32,000 dollars to the BCRF each year. Finally, Panera is selling pink bagels from Oct. 1st to the 31st. Thirty-nine cents of each pink bagel sold is donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
